New Opening: Late August Brings Afro-Asian Cooking to EaDo

Three nights into service, Late August is already operating like a restaurant that has been open for years.

Chef Dawn Burrell — the Top Chef finalist, James Beard nominee, and former Olympic long-jumper — has built a menu that is unapologetically her own.

The coconut curry goat is destined to become a Houston signature. The smoked lamb ribs arrive on a bed of charred scallion that has been blowtorched table-side. And the black garlic fried rice may be the best single bite of food we've eaten in 2026.

The room is loud, the cocktails are punchy, and the service is already extraordinary. Make a reservation now — by spring, you won't get one.
